Damdam lake
If boating and rock
climbing are your thig, head for Domdama Lake near the Aravalli Hills.
A three hour drive from the city, the lake is just short of Sohna
Sohna
A three and a half hour drive from
Delhi Brings you to Sohna, in the bordering state of Haryana. Its hot
springs and grassy expanses make it a popular picnic shop. And during
an early weekend in February, it is the destination of the Statesman
Vintage Car Rally.
Dhauj
Around 40 kms away from the
city, it's tucked into the Aravalli Hills. Wigh red cliffs overlooking
a reservoir, Dhauj is great for rock climbing and bird watching.
Surajkund
This is the location of an
ancient water tank named after the sun god, Suraj. The circular tank
has, in one corner, a huge ramp that was used by elephants. There is
also a man make lake nearby where boating is popular with picnickers.
For a fortnight in February, there is a traditional crafts fair, where
artisans from all over the country display their wares. |
